/ WHY BILINGUAL CARDS

A single card that teaches two languages

Most flashcard sets sold online ship in one language. If you're raising a bilingual kid, Polish parents in the UK, mixed families anywhere, English-speakers learning Polish, that's a problem. Either you buy two decks and your child holds two separate stories about a planet, or you make your own labels in marker and ruin the artwork.

A bilingual card solves this in the simplest possible way. English label and English fact go on the top half. Polish label and Polish fact go on the bottom half. The illustration is the same. Your kid stares at the same card, reads the English on Monday and the Polish on Tuesday, and after a week the planet is one concept in their head with two names.

/ WHO SAMPLE IS FOR

Parents, homeschool teachers, EN/PL bilingual families

We made the sample with three groups in mind:

  • Polish parents abroad who want their kid to keep up with both languages without it feeling like a chore.
  • English-speaking families learning Polish through a child or partner, the planets are a low-stakes vocabulary set to start with.
  • Homeschool teachers running a unit on the Solar System who want premium card stock without paying $30 for laminated commercial decks.

If you're none of those, the sample is still worth grabbing, half of our newsletter readers are just people who like beautifully illustrated print-at-home things.

/ HOW TO USE

Print today, use this evening

Open the PDF, print on regular paper if you want to try it tonight, or on 160 gsm card stock if you want it to survive a year of being held by a five-year-old. Cut along the marked lines. Optional: laminate, the cards become indestructible for ~10 zł at any photo shop.

For a four-week plan with these (or any) flashcards, one planet per day, five minutes per session, no screens, we wrote a full home-plan guide:
